Target audience:
This course is ideal for students who have a basic level of English literacy, language  and numeracy skills.  Salford College’s program has been especially designed for international students who either want to improve their English language and communication skills or who want to attain VET qualifications such as a Certificate III in Business or Certificate III in Commercial Cookery.

Description:
This qualification is an English as an Additional language (EAL) language and literacy education program that will enable students to develop the necessary language skills to participate in a broad range of community, work and vocational education programs. The program focusses on reading, writing and spoken skills; correct use of English grammar; mathematical concepts including fractions, multiplication and division used in real life situations. Students will develop learning strategies to support continuing language learning.

Entry requirements:

  • IELTS 3.0
  • ACSF Level 2
  • ACSF tested by Salford College English Language Literacy Assessment

  • Comprehending and performing multiplication and division with whole numbers

Program delivery:

  • Up to 26 weeks
  • 2.5 days workshop (20 hours per week)
  • Face-to-face workshops
  • Out of class activities up to 8 hours per week

Pathways:
The Certificate II in Spoken and Written English provides students with a pathway to Certificate III in Spoken and Written English. On completion of the Certificate II in Spoken and Written English, students may move into qualifications at the ACSF Level 3 such as the Certificate III in Commercial Cookery and Certificate III in Business.

RPL
Students may apply for recognition of prior learning and this will reduce the course duration.  Please contact our office for further information.
