1. What is this course?

CPC20220 Certificate II in Construction Pathways is a nationally recognised, entry-level qualification that introduces students to the building and construction industry through 3 months of blended (online theory plus hands-on practical) training.

2. Who can apply?

Applicants must be:

• Complete Course entry interview
• Salford LLN Test (Language,Literacy & Numeracy)
• Basic digital literacy (laptop or tablet required)
• Personal tool kit and PPE for practical sessions

3. What will I learn?

You’ll build core construction skills across workplace health and safety, reading plans and specifications, using hand and power tools, working safely at heights, concreting and demolition basics, measurements and levelling, hand excavation, reinforcement placement, workplace communication and planning, and sustainable work practices — delivered through 5 core and 5 elective units of competency (see Core Skills above).

4. Do I need my own tools or equipment?

Yes. Students must supply their own personal tool kit and mandatory PPE before commencing practical sessions (see Student Requirements above) — these are not covered by course fees. Students must also bring their own laptop or tablet under the college’s BYOD policy, as theory and assessment components are completed online.

5. What jobs can I get after this?

Graduates can move straight into entry-level roles such as Builder’s Labourer or Construction Support Worker. This qualification is also a direct pathway into a trade apprenticeship or continue into further study such as a Certificate III qualification in a chosen trade to fast-track their career.
