The CPP20218 Certificate II in Security is a nationally recognised entry-level qualification that prepares you for the role of a security officer responsible for maintaining safety and security. This qualification meets the South Australian Consumer and Business Services (CBS) Security Agent’s Licence requirements for the following Employee Endorsements:
- General Guarding
- Crowd or Venue Control
This nationally recognised security qualification provides the essential skills and practical knowledge to start your career in the security industry. You will learn how to patrol and protect property, control access to premises, monitor and respond to security incidents, and maintain a safe and secure environment. The course also includes hands-on training in the use of industry-standard security equipment, conflict resolution, unarmed defensive techniques, basic first aid, and Workplace Health and Safety (WHS), preparing you to confidently perform the duties of an unarmed Security Officer, Security Guard or Crowd Controller.

Entry Requirements
Applicants must be:
- At least 18 years (required for an SA CBS security licence )
- Hold a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Create or retrieve your USI at https://www.usi.gov.au.
- Completion of the mandatory pre-enrolment Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Literacy (LLND) assessment and be able to use digital technologies for the self-paced online component
- Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Be physically capable of participating in all practical exercises and realistic scenarios, including defensive techniques and escort procedures
A National Police Check is a mandatory requirement for applying for a South Australian Consumer and Business Services (CBS) Security Agent’s Licence; however, it is not a requirement for course enrolment. As processing times may vary, students are strongly encouraged to apply for their National Police Check as early as possible.
